Bachelor of Theology (B.Th)

Purpose

We train missionaries, pastors and leaders to have a thorough foundational knowledge in various theological and allied disciplines.

The purpose of the four-year residential Bachelor of Theology programme is to train missionaries, pastors and leaders to have a thorough foundational knowledge in various theological and allied disciplines. This is a four-year programme, in which the first year is considered as Pre-Theology. Since the programme is in English, the candidate is required to have proficiency in English. Even if a student is a pass in higher secondary (+2) and is not fluent in English, he/she will have to study for four years. Students admitted to the Pre-Theology batch are expected to clear all their papers before entering into the first year of B. Th.

The four-year residential Bachelor of Theology program aims to equip missionaries, pastors, and leaders with a comprehensive understanding of theological and related disciplines. It also seeks to foster spiritual growth and practical skills for effective ministry and leadership.

  • Must be born again with a consistent and growing relationship with the Lord.
  • Must have a conviction to be involved in God’s ministry.
  • Must have a proven reputation of Christian character and commitment.
  • Must be of good standing with a church and a member of the church.
  • Candidate should pass the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or its equivalent.

 

 

The student passes an assessment of his or her achievement of the graduate profile for this award, including:

  • Successful completion of 120 credit units.
  • Successful completion of ministry requirements (12 credit units).
  • Character and spiritual development that meets IPCTSK requirements/standards.
  • Students with secular degree have to accumulate 90 credits. Those who are admitted through lateral entry have to accumulate 60 credits to qualify for graduation.

Prospective candidates are required to send their completed applications in the prescribed forms. Application forms can be obtained by sending a non-refundable fee of Rs.200/- to the Academic Dean, or you may download it from the website and send it by post. The duly filled application forms should reach the office on or before 31 March. Please attach the following with the application form.

  • A recent photo of the applicant should be pasted in the space provided in the form.

  • Photocopies of certificates must be submitted at the time of interview. In addition, the SSLC Book (10th Certificate) and certificate of the highest qualification must be submitted to the Dean of Academics to be deposited during the period of study at IPCTSK.

  • The applicant’s testimony regarding his/her commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian experience.

  • The statement of purpose in pursuing studies at IPCTSK.

  • The medical certificate on the prescribed form filled out by a qualified medical practitioner.

  • A letter of recommendation from the local church.

  • The sponsor’s financial statement on the prescribed form.

  • Two reference letters on the prescribed forms - academic and church. One from a teacher who taught you either in school/college/seminary. One from the Pastor of your church or a spiritual mentor/head of the organization.

 

Personal interviews are held twice in a year (April and May) at the Seminary. In addition, during their summer ministry, faculty members conduct spot interviews and admit students provisionally, if they are willing to pay the registration fees fully or partially. Those who are provisionally admitted will have to appear for qualifying exams at the seminary. Their admissions would be regularized on the basis of their performance at the qualifying exams.

The IPCTSK admission committee meets at the end of interview week and finalizes the list and recommends them to the Academic Dean. The final decision will be informed to the candidates within two weeks.

The applicants who have been offered an academic place at IPCTSK must confirm their acceptance to the office by paying the registration fees in partial or full within 15 days from the date of receiving the calling/admission letter. Otherwise, the applicant’s place may be given to another applicant.

Students must arrive at IPCTSK on the date specified in the admission letter.

The registration and orientation of all new students is scheduled in the last week of May, and classes will commence from that week onwards.

On arrival, students must submit the original degree/certificate of their highest qualification to the Dean of Academics.

 

Admission regulations: Students may be admitted as day scholars provided:

  • They satisfy the Admission Committee that personal or family reasons prevent them from residing on campus for the duration of the entire programme.

  • They will earnestly participate in the corporate life of the campus, such as prayer meetings, night vigils, special programmes, seminars etc.

  • They arrive at 8:00 am every morning and remain on campus till 4: 30 pm on working days. If they occasionally need to come in late or leave early, the permission of the Dean of students must be obtained

  • They do not insist on privileges or benefits other than what is commonly agreed by the administration
